Goals

I've heard that those who have written goals are more likely to achieve those goals than those who don't.  I have to do this at work for my professional development, so why not my personal life?  This will probably evolve and change over time.  These are my goals for myself and my family.

2011

Financial
  • Pay off $31,000 in debt
  • Accumulate $0 new debt
  • Keep, and replenish when necessary, a $1000 emergency fund
  • Make the envelope system of money management habit and common practice for us
  • Improve month ahead budgeting with zero balance budgeting (w/ BudgetSketch)
Health
  • Loose 20 pounds
  • Maintain healthy cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.
Education
  • Take the GMAT and apply to an MBA problem.  If this is successful, I would hope to start in the Fall of 2011.  Don't worry - no loans for this education.  My company would pay for the tuition.
  • Read 3 books related to my work - leadership, change management, continuous improvement, lean/six sigma, etc.
Spiritual
  • Read the Bible in a year (I'm already behind)
  • Get into a habit of reading books again, and read 1 Christian book per quarter (4 this year).  This doesn't sound like a lot but it is more than I've done in the past.
  • Memorize more scripture - 1 new scripture verse (or section) per week.
  • Take advantage of opportunities to share my faith more often, and pray for God to bring people into my life who need to hear the Gospel.
Family
  • Read 1 book on parenting (I've got to start somewhere)
  • Read 1 book on Family Worship and find a devotion that we can use as a family.  Then, lead the family in family worship at least 2 times per week
  • Pray more with my wife, other than at meals
Blogging
  • Post at least 15 posts per month
  • Increase page loads per month by 25%, from 516 average per month in 2010 to at least 650 per month on average in 2011.
Friendships
  • Reach out to an old friend, at least one per month. See how they are doing, catch up, and find out how I can pray for them.
  • Fellowship with local friends at least once per month
