First 30 Days of the 90 Day Body by Vi Challenge

It's been 30 days on the ViSalus Body by Vi Challenge and I'm doing great.  I've lost about 12 pounds in the first 30 days and several inches.  I haven't measured so probably need to.  I know my shirts aren't as tight, my pants are looser, and I had to cut another hole in my belt so I'm convinced that fat is leaving my body!  In a few days I'll get some pictures taken and post my first before/after for just the first 30 days.

One of my goals on the challenge is to lose weight and improve fitness so that I could complete my first half marathon!  Today I crossed that item off my bucket list - completed it well under my goal coming in at 2 hours 22 minutes.  I ran most of the time other than water stops and even sprinted up hill to the finish!

I'm still doing just 1 shake per day using the Balance kit and it is working well for me since I'm exercising.  Usually the balance kit is only for maintenance or athletes.  To really lose weight ViSalus recommends 2/day.  Unless my weight loss starts slowing down I probably won't bump it up.  However, I am working on my "3 for Free" and growing my business.  If my volume gets high enough I'd really like the brand new challenge kit that was released - called the FIT Kit.

My goal for the next 30 days is to break under 180 pounds.  I haven't been at a healthy weight for a long time so I'm not sure where I will "level out" once I've burned fat and built muscle.  I'm going to keep up my exercise program at the gym, of about 3-4 hour long sessions.  Half my time will be running to get my 5K time down and the other half of the time will be weightlifting and abdominal/core work.

I also am going to start training in my Vibram Five Fingers for barefoot running.  They have a recommended training program that I'm going to try and follow.

Hope to be posting some great results in the next 30 days.  It will be a true challenge because I also start school this month. I'll be taking 2 online classes and that will stretch me thin.  If you saw my 2012 goals you know that I've set the bar high for myself.  I have a lot that I've put on my plate.

  2. They feel good and are comfortable but I haven't had time to use them since I just got them a few days ago. I've heard great things but also a lot of caution - to be sure to train carefully and slowly in them. It works a whole different muscle group and trains you in proper running form. It takes up to 12 weeks to work up to using them in place of regular shoes. My first goal is to run a 5K in them. I'll let you know how they go!

  4. Thanks! Yeah, I'd like to train for a full. I will probably do another half this year sometime and several 5K's. For the MS Blues next January I will consider the full.
